Trail running is a tremendously popular activity around the world, and is becoming better known and increasingly popular in Australia. Organised trail running enables like-minded people to enjoy running, social company and the security of numbers while enjoying magnificant scenery. Local runners select courses through some of Victorias most scenic, spectacular and historic natural areas. THE WALHALLA WOUND-UP Traralgon runner Bruce Salisbury has his own dream, that is now set to become an annual event,. A veteran member of the Traralgon Harriers Athletics Club with a number of state distance running titles to his name, Bruce has devised three local runs of different lengths The three courses wind their way through the Walhalla Historic Area, taking participants through significant features and breath-taking scenery, while the two longer routes also pass through the Coopers Creek Historic Area. Intending participants are encouraged to set achievable goals and work towards them. The runs start and finish at Walhallas Star Hotel, taking in the historic bridges of Poverty Point Bridge and Bruntons Bridge, with 16 kilometres of walking track and the rest on unsealed roads with some big undulations.
