Walhalla Left Hand Branch This view north overlooks the Junction where Stringers Creek splits to form the "Right hand" and Left hand" branches. These are also referred to as the "East" and "West" branches. Note the Band Rotunda in the centre of the photograph. The church on the bottom right is the Wesleyan church which was one of seven churches in Walhalla during the gold-era. The house next door to the Wesleyan Church (with the two chimneys) is "Fairview". This house was removed from Walhalla after the gold ran out in 1914 and was moved to Trafalgar about 60 kilometres away. In the mid 1990s, "Fairview" was bought back to Walhalla an is now a home for two of the town's 21 permanent residents. |
