Walhalla Town Centre

This view looking south basically shows the town centre of gold-era Walhalla. The rotunda is bottom centre with the Grand Junction Hotel across the road. The church on the top left is St. John's Anglican. This is the only church to remain in Walhalla and it still holds services once a month at 11am on the fourth Sunday of the month. Above the stone wall in the centre of the photo (the tiny building with the two windows and central door) is the "Walhalla Chronicle" office. From here, Walhalla's twice weekly paper was produced for over 40 years. The industrial looking buildings on the right side of the photo is the above ground workings for the Long Tunnel Mine.
