Volume 2 2004 - June
Well BBNSC is now 21 years old! Quite an achievement really when one looks at small specialist sports clubs and slowly dwindling numbers. The event was celebrated in traditional style with an outdoor BBQ and live music, but most of you were there anyway and know what it was like. Well done. A great night it was. A special thanks to Kate and Noel Haines for the venue and to Kate and colleagues for the music. And thanks also to those who helped organise the event.
In the tradition of 21st birthdays the club now has the key to the door. What door? A good question. On the night we heard tell of the early days of the club, a large group of young people following their passion for skiing on “sticks” amongst other things. Times have changed and now moved on. Many of the same people are still around but with less time to indulge in skinny skiing. The key must be to rejuvenate the club with young people with similar passions (and vices) as the founders. Lets all make an effort to alert people to the club and try to get a new generation involved. To this end we are planning to produce some simple “business” cards with basic club information on them. The idea being that each member can have a few and can hand them to interested people they meet. Stay tuned!!!!

Does anyone see a pattern here for the club meetings…. Like the 2nd Tuesday of every month?? We’d like to have a quick meeting at 6.30pm, and then enjoy the Yinnar Hotel schnitzel night over the ski season.

As for previous years we intend to make a group booking at the Mt Beauty Caravan park. Accommodation is in comfortable cabins and yurts. Look up www.holidaycentre.com.au for pix of the accomodation and booking phone numbers. We will be there Friday and Satureday nights. Pizza night Saturday Night.

Information Cards
Small simple information cards describing the club will be produced. We plan for each of you to carry a few of these so you can give them out to interested people. The cards will have the club name and information directing them to the Star Hotel Walhalla website / Team Gwinear url where there will be up to date information on the clubs activities.
